
Leisa Persson - Owner/Director
Leisa Persson has been teaching children in the wonderful world of performing arts for 26 years. It is her true passion and she love seeing students enjoy, be challenged and achieve. She has had the pleasure of mentoring many of her students from pre-school age through to grade 12 graduation and she believes it is the most rewarding job.

Leisa has a Bachelor of Music Theatre from the Central QLD Conservatorium of Music and a Bachelor of Learning Management (Primary).
After graduating from the Conservatorium of Music, Leisa moved to Sydney and performed in a range of shows in entertainment casts and continued to teach dance, drama and singing at several performing arts studios.

Leisa was a primary school teacher at Mackay West State School (2007-2011) where she directed and choreographed Wakakirri's, Rock Pop Mime's and School Concerts/Pantomimes.
​
She has completed contracts as an acting tutor at the Central Qld University and choregraphed musicals for the Mackay Musical Comedy Players including; 'Fame' (2007), 'Hairspray' (2013), 'The 25th Putnum County Spelling Bee' (2008), 'Bonnie & Clyde' (2014) and is currently working on 'Goldilocks and the 3 Bears' (2025).

Leisa founded the Mackay Fame Talent School and owned it from 2009 - mid 2020. She continued as a drama and music theatre teacher there until the end of 2021 and returned the first half of 2023 to direct 'Lion King Jr'.
​
Leisa is currently the Performing Arts Teacher (Music, Drama and Dance) at St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School and is loving her time with the students. As well as teaching weekly classes towards the ACARA Arts Curriculum, Leisa also manages the following performing events/activities at SFX.

* The Arena Spectacular Dance Concert
* Rock Pop Mime
* Easter Play
* Christmas Carols Concerts

Leisa had a wonderful first year of Theatre Bugs in 2024 and is looking forward to its second in year 2025.
